The conflict continues to escalate as the heroes of the Marvel Universe find themselves increasingly divided. With the Superhuman Registration Act tearing former allies apart, the battle takes another dangerous turn as the villains of the Marvel Universe begin to exploit the chaos.

Written by Mark Millar and illustrated by Steve McNiven, CIVIL WAR #5 is the fifth chapter of Marvel's landmark seven-part event. The issue brings the Punisher into the conflict and introduces a new and dangerous alliance between the pro-registration forces and some of the Marvel Universe's most notorious villains.

This edition features the Michael Turner Variant Cover, depicting the Punisher in combat against Daredevil, with Turner's distinctive artwork and dynamic composition. The interior story is identical to the standard edition of CIVIL WAR #5; the difference is the exclusive variant cover.

The Michael Turner Variant was released as a scarce Retailer Incentive, with contemporary retailer listings identifying it at a 1:16 ratio. It is distinct from the much rarer Michael Turner Sketch Variant.
